1 year ago I started a new chapter
Today marks one year since I created my portrait photography IG account (@twlportrait) — and I can hardly believe how quickly the time has passed! What started as an experiment in splitting my content between two Instagram accounts has now grown into something meaningful and deeply rewarding.
Looking back, I can say with confidence that it was the right choice. While this account isn’t “big” in terms of numbers, it’s rich in personality, connections, and authenticity. Growth may be slow, but what truly matters is the genuine conversations, the sense of community, and the creative freedom I’ve gained along the way.
When I first considered separating my content, I worried about the extra effort and whether it would even be worth it. But this year has shown me that sometimes the best decisions aren’t about chasing algorithms or boosting engagement: they’re about finding joy and fulfillment in the way you share your art.
So, if you’ve been wondering whether to split your content across different accounts, here’s my advice: do it. Not for the numbers. Not for the metrics. But for yourself. If it makes you feel more at home in your own space online, then it’s absolutely worth it.
Here’s to one year down, and many more to come!
